Right at the the centre of Nepal, Pokhara is the trekking centre, a staging post for the majority of these adventures into the country, with stunning views of the Himalayas.
It’s a very relaxing town, with a lovely lake to wander around and some very good restaurants serving delicious Nepalese food.
The Annapurna Range is only a couple of hours from Pokhara, with The Circuit being the most popular trek - although, with recent construction on new roads it has made this trek less beautiful and a bit more busy. There are lots of other walks that can be done in this area, taking anything from a couple of days to a week or more.
On the treks, accommodation tends to range from very simple to relatively rustic. The food is generally rudimentary, but nourishing and filling.
The views whilst you are walking are spectacular; it's a chance to see rural Nepal up close and personal, an incredible experience and very rewarding, and something you will be talking about for years to come.
