For some comfortable adventure in Laos then we highly recommend venturing to the far south and spending a couple of days on the Wat Phou Mekong Cruise from Pakse down to Khong Island via the impressive Angkorean Wat Phou ruins at Champasak.
Originally a ferry, the Wat Phou boat has been lovingly converted into a luxurious floating hotel. The 12 elegantly designed cabins have views out over the Mekong River, so you will miss nothing of the stunning views that this part of Laos will provide. The boat has all the modern luxuries you will need from excellent French and Laotian dishes, to a wonderful wine and champagne cellar. This is without a doubt the most enjoyable and exciting way of seeing the temple ruins.
