Set in the upper reaches of the Motithang area, the 16 suite Amankora Thimpu lodge is located just outside of Bhutan’s capital city and close to all the sights and shopping that this small relaxing city has to offer. Nicely nestled within a blue pine forest it has a wonderful secluded feel to it. The suites combine a bedroom and lounge and feature a bukhari wood burning stove and views across a landscaped courtyard or the pine forests. This is the most luxurious lodge within the capital and is inspired by the country’s Dzongs with whitewashed buildings and high ceilings. A fantastic start to any Bhutan journey.
You can dine on either Western, Asian or Bhutanese dishes all with a modern twist such as Yak carpaccio. The spa at the resort focuses heavily on Himalayan plant and herd based therapies, treatment at the spa offers a wholly Bhutanese experience. The interiors are scented with cedar wood as well as using Bhutanese incense as a traditional remedy, whilst the Bhutanese massages, scrubs and baths soothe the senses. The Amankora Thimpu is the perfect for walks through this gentle city, museums and chortens , which offer a window into the ancient Bhutanese culture.
