The Amankora Punakha resort is set just outside the small town of Punakha and only a short drive away from the 17thCentury Punakha Dzong, the major attraction in the area. Converted from an old farm house once owned by the Bhutanese Royal family, the Amankora Punakha makes excellent use of the traditional architecture of the area but still showing contemporary elements among the rustic design. The resort has a spa, perfect after trekking through the rice paddies in the area or visiting the Dzong. The resort has a long list of other activities you can indulge in like mountain biking. This particular Amankora is our favourite lodge in Bhutan at Asia Odyssey.
Located outside the old capital of the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan and renovated from an old farmhouse once belonging to the Queen Mother, the Amankora Punakha as with the other Aman properties is a wonderful hotel to stay in whilst visiting the Dzong of Punakha. Accessed via a suspension bridge over the Mo River, the old farmhouse has rustic charm in the dining room and library, whilst the guestrooms are, as with the other properties, amazing. There are a few more luxury properties now opening in Punakaha but this Aman is still the best.
